PRIVACY POLICY

Bread & Butter Music Services Limited is a registered New Zealand company (NZBN 9429053014047), operating in New Zealand and globally, providing digital distribution, supplying Products and other Services.

We may collect and process personal data and other information as listed below to perform our obligations under the contract you signed with us, or to provide Products or Services to you, including information about your: 

  • Name;

  • Contact Information;

  • Demographic data on Users (e.g. age, gender, place of residence);

  • IP Address and Geo-location data when accessing our website or other electronic communication tools (“Sites”);

  • Information about Internet browser and device types;

  • Other publicly available information.

If you are a performing artist, an artist representative (producer, manager, independent label), service provider, supplier, partner, or other party who has entered into a contract with us, we may also collect:

  • Physical Address;

  • Banking or Payment information;

  • Tax registration number;

  • Stage name(s), biographies, textual, graphic, photographic audio or video elements, relating to distribution content;

  • Necessary metadata to identify the works related to distribution content, in particular the authors', composers', publishers' names, ISWC, ISRC, UPC codes. 

We may collect your information by means of:

  • A Contract you entered into with us;

  • An Account created for or by you;

  • Services you subscribed to;

  • Viewing, downloading or using Sites;

  • Your Purchases;

  • Your subscription to newsletters or other types of communications;

  • Your claims regarding a Product or Service;

  • Your concert or event tickets purchase;

  • Public databases;

  • Commercial or media partnerships for marketing or promotional operations related to our activity;

  • The use of your User Account in connection with a third party or social media platform;

  • Browsers, devices, and widgets and other digital applications' use on such devices.


We collect your personal information in order to:

  • Provide our Services;

  • Communicate with you;

  • Manage your catalogue;

  • Perform our contractual and legal obligations;

  • Analyse, identify, improve and understand the Services and Sites functioning and the trends of the use of the Sites or Services;

  • Provide, improve, optimise and customise your user experience;

  • Pay out royalties.

Providing some information is optional. If you choose not to give us Contact Details, Payment and Tax Information, we may be unable to provide our services.

We may share some of your information with other third parties, including some based overseas, when required for the purposes of our business, including to facilitate:

  • The Services' provision or access to Sites;

  • Hosting services;

  • Data analysis;

  • Processing of payment transactions;

  • Repayment of royalties;

  • Orders of Products and Services;

  • Providing infrastructure services;

  • Information technology services;

  • Customer services;

  • E-mail distribution services;

  • Audit or other similar services;

  • Sales Reporting.

We do not collect or process any sensitive personal data or unique identifiers used for the purpose of identifying a single natural person. 

We keep your information safe by storing it in secure databases which are SOC II Type 2 compliant. Data is encrypted in-transit (with TLS 1.2) and encrypted at rest (with AES). Only certain staff are able to access it, and only for the purposes related to our business. MFA is enabled on all staff accounts where possible. 

We keep your information for a period of two years of inactivity on the contract at which point we securely destroy it by erasing all digital records, except for certain records when required by law to be stored for longer, or information which is otherwise publicly accessible which we may retain indefinitely. If a Privacy breach occurs, we will comply with our legal obligations under the Privacy Act 2020.
